Gula adalah karbohidrat ringkas yang membekalkan sumber tenaga segera yang mudah diserap oleh tubuh dan didapati dalam makanan yang mengandungi karbohidrat seperti nasi, roti, pasta dan ubi-ubian. Gula juga terdapat dalam buah-buahan dalam bentuk fruktosa, dan susu dalam bentuk laktosa. Walaubagaimanapun, pengambilan gula yang berlebihan boleh mengakibatkan pengambilan tenaga yang berlebihan, yang membawa kepada penambahan berat badan danseterusnya berisiko mendapat penyakit kronik seperti diabetes, darah tinggi dan sakit jantung. Gula juga adalah menyebab utama karies gigi.

Kerajaan melalui Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia telah menjalankan Kempen Kurangkan Gula 2010 untuk mendidik rakyat tentang kesan pengambilan gula yang berlebihan seterusnya menggalakkan rakyat mempraktikkan amalan makan secara sihat.

Health - Very Very Important Tips

Answer the phone by LEFT ear.

Do not drink coffee TWICE a day.

Do not take pills with COOL water.

Do not have HUGE meals after 5pm.

Reduce the amount of OILY food you consume.

Drink more WATER in the morning, less at night.

Keep your distance from hand phone CHARGERS.

Do not use headphones/earphone for LONG period of time.

Best sleeping time is from 10pm at night to 6am in the morning.

Do not lie down immediately after taking medicine before sleeping.

When battery is down to the LAST grid/bar, do not answer the phone as the radiation is 1000 times.

ISTILAH KITA

Seingat saya, ada seorang rakan ketika zaman menelaah dulu mentertawakan saya (sungguh sakit hati bila ingat ni....) bila saya menyebut perkataan "Subjek Rangkaian" berbanding "Network". Agaknya si rakan saya ini berpandangan betapa kolotnya saya kerana menyebut perkataan tersebut dalam Bahasa Melayu sedangkan rakan saya itu biasa menyebutnya dalam Bahasa Inggeris.

Oh, ini belum lagi kalau saya menyebut "apungan" dan "pisang sejoli" untuk float dan banana split. Mungkin rakan saya ini akan ketawa terbahak-bahak pula dan mungkin juga ada yang tersenyum sinis ketika membaca entri ini.

Do You Know the Real Reason Cell Phone Use is Banned on Airlines?

While, in theory, using a cell phone or other wireless device could interfere with the functions of an airliner, it’s not likely. Communication systems onboard planes have been shielded from electromagnetic interference since the 1960s.

The real reason why you can’t use your cell phone on a plane has much more to do with their impact on cell phone towers. If you’re flying at 35,000 feet, your cell phone’s signals could reach hundreds of towers at once, and cell phone companies are not set up to handle this type of roaming agreement.

That said, if you’re a frequent flyer you should be counting your lucky stars that cell phone use is currently prohibited on flights -- and not because you don’t have to suffer through other passengers’ loud personal calls, either!

New Scam! : Handphone Shut Down

This is a new scam.... best to be aware about it.....let your family members know about this.

Dear all BAKSUS Member's

I cannot stop myself from sharing this with all of you.

Its all started when I received a call from someone claiming that he was from Maxis and he asked me to shutdown my phone for 2 hours for 3g update to take place. As I was rushing for a meeting, I did not question and shutdown my cell phone.

After 45 minutes I felt very suspicious since the caller did not even introduce his name. I quickly turned on my cell phone and I received several calls from my family members and the others were from the number that had called me earlier - 3954380.

I called my parents and I was shocked that they sounded very worried asking me whether I am safe. My parents told me that they had received a call from someone claiming that they had me with them and asking for money to let me free. The call was so real and my parents even heard 'my voice' crying out loud asking for help. My parent was at the bank waiting for next call to proceed for money transfer.. I told my parents that I am safe and asked them to lodge a police report.

Right after that I received another call from the guy asking me to shutdown my cell phone for another 1 hour which I refused to do and hung up. They keep calling my cell phone until the battery had run down. I myself lodged a police report and I was informed by the officer that there were many such scams reported. MOST of the cases reported that the victim had already transferred the money! And it is impossible to get back the money.

Be careful as this kind of scam might happened to any of us!!! Those guys are so professional and very convincing during calls. If you are asked to shut down your cell phone for updates by the service provider, ASK AROUND! Your family or friends might receive the same call.

JARGON MAHKAMAH

1. Afidavit - Satu kenyataan bertulis atas nama seorang yang bersumpah dan menandatangani kenyataan tersebut, C,orang itu mesti berupaya membuktikan kenyataan-kenyataannya di mahkamah.
2. Alibi - Orang yang dituduh berada di tempat lain semasa kejadian berlaku.
3. Bigami - Orang bukan Islam yang berkahwin semasa perkahwinan yang pertama masih sah.
4. Certiorari - Memohon di Mahkamah Tinggi untuk mengetepikan keputusan yang dibuat oleh Mahkamah Rendah.
5. Condictio - Kes yang melibatkan tindakan peribadi seseorang ke atas orang lain (kes civil).
6. Contempt of court - Menghina mahkamah atau tidak mengikut arahan dan peraturan mahkamah.
7. Culpa lata - Kesalahan yang berlaku kerana kecuaian yang ketara sehingga dianggap sengaja.
8. Defamation - Kesalahan yg melibatkan terbitan dan cetakan sesuatu maklumat palsu terhadap seseorang (fitnah).

9. Ex parte - Satu permohonan oleh plaintif (orang yang menuntut) kepada mahkamah bagi mendengar kes tetapi tanpa kehadiran pihak defendan.
10. Functus officio - Mahkamah telah menjatuhkan hukuman, oleh itu tidak boleh tukar hukuman dan membuka kesitu semula di mahkamah yang sama. . 0
11. Habeas corpus - Arahan mahkamah supaya seseorang dahun tahanan dilepaskan supaya orang itu datang sendiri untuk mendengar dan membela dirinya dalam sesuatu kes di mahkamah.
12. Injunksi - Perintah mahkamah terhadap seseorang supaya melakukan atau berhenti melakukan sesuatu sama ada untuk jangka masa sementara atau tetap.
13. Mandamus - Perintah Mahkamah Tinggi menyuruh seseorang atau agensi menjalankan togas untuk orang swam.
14. Mandatori - Satu hukuman yang sepatutnya dilaksanakan dan tidak boleh diringankan.
15. Mitigasi - Permohonan untuk mengurangkan hukuman yang telah dijatuhkan.
16. Kesalahan pejuri - Membuat sumpah (angkat sumpah) yang palsu.
17. Prima facie - Kes yang dapat diteruskan dalam mahkamah kerana mempunyai bukti-bukti yang kuat.
